Flour Power

by Syd Briscoe

The Great British Bake Off: “The Gift” - 40s

Many events from 2020 will make the history books of tomorrow, but one which may slip through the cracks is the Great Flour Shortage of lockdown - fuelled as it was by a nation anxiety-baking banana bread to maintain its sanity. It's no surprise, then, that the Great British Bake Off have decided to memorialise the occasion as they announce their next season.

The dynamic ad follows a kid making a vital trip on his bike, rushing past various people who are all trying to get their hands on a mysterious drug of choice. It's only when he reaches his destination that what they're jonesing for becomes clear - and it becomes apparent his nan is lucky to have such a dedicated delivery boy. This should remind cake lovers to get supplies in before the series kicks off.
