Pressure (ft. Flowdan)

by Syd Briscoe

The Bug: “Pressure (ft. Flowdan)” - 3 mins 44s

Long time collaborators Kevin 'The Bug' Martin and grime star Flowdan come together once more for latest track 'Pressure'. The track's beat-heavy vibes are supplemented by foreboding electronic drones, and provide a dark, sticky base for Flowdan's patois-heavy and politically forthright lyrics. There's something of the tornado siren about it: a warning for dire times to come.

Director Danisha Anderson's accompanying promo is fittingly grimy, taking the viewer deep into the heart of London tower block life in stark black-and-white. Digital distortion further enhances the sense of being trapped, while flashes of surveillance footage and clips of politicians and protests shown on a TV screen suggest paranoia may not necessarily be an overreaction. Immersive, visceral work.
