Arts and cracks.

by Syd Briscoe

Taskmaster: “Gallery” - 40s

The madcap humour of comedy panel show Taskmaster is given a regal edge in this entertaining ad for its eleventh season. Host and self-proclaimed "tyrannical ruler" Greg Davies provides strident narration as a series of artworks come to life, sneering down at the foolish competitors who would dare to take on their challenges.

Shrewd production design has familiar faces appear in each painting, bemoaning their fates as they fail to meet the Taskmaster's expectations. All the drama is rather nicely undercut by perennial sidekick Alex Horne's appearance as a jester... and the subsequent reveal of his rubber duck-print pants. A very different kind of art to end on.
