Recapturing lost youth.

by Jason Stone

Superdry: “Beabadoobee & Cookie” - 60s

Youth icons Beabadoobee and Cookie strut their stuff for the pseudo-Japanese retailer Superdry in this typically impressive slice of cool from COMPULSORY's directoral team Bedroom.

The pair mess around in front of the camera as a blur of techniques cater to the most restless of attention spans, and even though it's not sparklingly original, it still fizzes with juvenile vigour.

It also has an old-fashioned advertising element as both Beabadoobee and Cookie are bedecked in a huge variety of different clothing offerings from the advertised retailer. You'd almost expect an ad like to be too cool to feature products from the actual shop, but you'd be absolutely wrong - these two were fully committed!

This might not persuade cool young people to get their clothes from Superdry, but it will cement the loyalty of the next generation up because they'll likely be persuaded that it's on the radar of people far cooler than they are. And that gets the job done.
