Steel Warriors: “This” - 3 mins 35s

This streetwise film from Nick Jay offers an insight into how one London charity is helping combat the scourge of knife crime. Steel Warriors take the symbol of inner-city violence - the knife itself- and melts it down to be repurposed as outdoor gym equipment. Yet as the film demonstrates, it's deeper than just erecting a few climbing frames.

The transformative aspect of the charity's work is made clear throughout the kinetic film, as people who've turned their lives away from violence discuss their reformed approach. Skin colour, gender, and age are no barriers here - it's evident that all one needs to join in is the right attitude.

This hopeful message is supported by some seriously impressive athletic displays, as the community demonstrate the calisthenic moves they've poured their energy into. It means that the charity's offer is visually appealing in addition to being morally compelling, and that may just sway audience members who need to make a change.
