Foosball crazy

Snickers: “Klopp” - 15s

Every idea has its time… and the best moment for this idea was around six months ago when Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool team could do no wrong. Unfortunately for the clubs' devotees, as well as everyone involved in making this commercial, currently, Klopp's players can do no right.

Having said that, you could argue that Klopp's rage in the ad makes more sense than it otherwise would have done, given his club's current run of form. The problem is that Liverpool fans are going to find this downright offensive, as there's no funny side for them about the club's dismal run.

Klopp was a strange choice though… like all football managers, he is guilty of stroppiness from time to time, but generally he's celebrated for his decency and good nature. One suspects that a script like this was written with someone else in mind – José Mourinho would be a better fit – but it then comes down to availability and a willingness to participate.

And perhaps the thrill of celebrity involvement is enough for the public to enjoy this film – that certainly seems to have been the case before because, if in truth, most of the executions in this campaign have been carried by the chutzpah of having a genuine A-lister on board. And this is a shame as the advertising would be top tier if the scripts matched the celebrity procurement.
