A mother's love.

by Andrew MacGregor

Sick Kids: “Mother's Day” - 2 mins 20s

User-generated content has been rife throughout the pandemic, and this Sick Kids film is inspired by some of the most gruelling examples of home footage. Released to coincide with Motherís Day, the ad offers a graphic insight into mums of seriously ill children.

The protagonist juggles domestic chores with the demands of hospital visits, chemotherapy, and medication, her spirit rocked by events that no parent or child should ever endure. The bad days seem endless, which makes the good days even more momentous.

Such highs and lows are deftly rendered throughout, helped by a powerful, natural lead performance . Even those put off by shaky-cam footage will find it hard to pull away from director Mark Zibert and DP Eric Kaskens's imagery.
