Suburban nightmare.

by Syd Briscoe

Short Films: “Sows” - 8 mins 47s

A pair of cops encounter an unusual house on their beat in this entertaining film from Dan Castella. The duo take a unique approach to policing what seems to be a relatively quiet suburban neighbourhood, focusing mainly on illicit cups of tea, uniform-kink hook-ups with the general public, and parking tickets of questionable validity.

That is, until they come across a property that gives them more than just home decor ideas to think about. Lovely performances anchor the film's murderous twist, particularly from Susan Wokoma as Edith, the more skittish of the blundering bobbies. Sharp and witty, this is an amusing watch which acts as a timely foil to the current true crime 'super cop/genius killer' boom.
