Ich bin ein Berliner.

by Syd Briscoe

Short Films: “So Berlin Remains Our Home” - 1 min 34s

In a move near-unthinkable in this country under Tory rule, on the 26th of September Berliners voted to socialise the 22% of local housing owned by multinational corporations. This inspiring film was released in the run-up to the referendum, and is a reminder that even in increasingly divided times, people are more similar than they are different.

Thus, director Tim Kelly presents intimate portraits of people simply trying to live somewhere they can afford. Rather than be separated by religion, sexuality, or even long-standing football rivalries, it's the universal desire for a safe roof over one's head which unites even the most seemingly disparate folks for a single purpose.
