Short Films: “More Time” - 4 mins 44s
This tightly focused short film stars Alex Schulze as a woman struggling to keep a lid on her emotions. A moment’s hesitation in a car park suggests that something is wrong, but the nameless protagonist is soon on the road. Alas, every turn of the wheel and glance in the mirror loosens her grip on a barely contained trauma. It's a powerful one-take performance from Schulze, whose sobs, cries, and yells are actually muffled by James Fouty's elegiac score. This makes her physical performance all the more affecting, as director Harvey Pearson's 'reverse dashcam' stays locked on the distressed driver throughout. Such private grief will strike a chord with many right now.
