Short Films: “Dino” - 5 mins 20s
This intriguing short film offers an insight into the world of a young man with a hidden disability. Living with physical coordination disorder dyspraxia means Dino struggles with many aspects of life - from poor focus to only seeing the world in two dimensions - and it has made his journey to finding a career and sense of purpose a difficult one. Dino proves an enthralling subject, as he articulately and painstakingly explains his circumstances and invites the viewer to walk alongside him for a little while. Director Emilio Gamal Boutros blends intimate detail and atmospheric location shots, giving the film a dreamlike feel as Dino finds his niche in the culinary arts. It's a constant visual reminder that, while we're seeing a snapshot of the young man's life, living it full-time is a very different experience.
