Season's eatings.

by Andrew MacGregor

Sainsbury's: “Autumn” - 30s

Autumn has a different vibe this year for obvious reasons, with falling leaves met by rising uncertainty and understandable frustration. Keen to inject some colour into this already gloomy season are Sainsbury’s, with beetroot fritters, sweet potato and chorizo salad, hearty stews, and fruit crumbles back on the menu.

The ad reunites Orange Supermarket with director Noah Harris, who shot the brand's '150th Anniversary Cake' film. His canvas may be smaller this time round, but Harris still delivers where it really counts - colourful ingredients that pop onscreen and tidy stop-motion animation. Meanwhile, a Mary Poppins-style jingle provides suitable background whimsy.
