Sad Night Dynamite: “Smoke Hole ” - 4 mins 32s
Up-and-coming UK duo Sad Night Dynamite take a turn for the sinister with latest single 'Smoke Hole'. The track pairs a retro, Dr Dre-style beat with melancholy flares of piano and synth, all tied together by dreamlike, drifting vocals which increase the sense of sonic menace. The accompanying promo only enhances the track's foreboding vibe. Director Edie Lawrence utilises creepy claymation to create a twisted world - a cultlike carnival in which the viewer is soon convinced every participant is well and truly mad. It's highly watchable work for those who enjoy a trip into weirdness - be it via hypnotic visual tricks or merely getting stuck in one's own mind. Both seem very much at work here.
