Road Safety (Scotland): “A Little Bit” - 30s
We've all had moments of pushing ourselves when we shouldn't - staying up just a little bit later, having just a little more to drink, and the like - but this hard-hitting commercial from Road Safety Scotland highlights one area where 'a little' can have a big impact: speeding. Unlike more lighthearted recent outings, the tone is deadly serious as the impact of one driver trying to make up for their lateness unfolds. Broken glass and mangled metal are rendered viscerally in the flash of emergency vehicle lights, as the camera pans across the scene with a clinical eye. Director James Lawes grips viewers thanks to flowing, forensic camerawork as a stern voiceover explains the consequences faced by the speeding driver. If you're too selfish to be discouraged by the prospect of killing a person, it lays out grim familial and employment results too.
