All or Nothing

by Syd Briscoe

Pokerstars: “I'm In” - 60s

This cinematic commercial for Pokerstars offers a stylish spin on the world of online gambling. Director Daniel Kaufman mines black-and-white movies and noir imagery for the visuals, while a driving voiceover brings a sense of urgency and determination to proceedings.

It's no mean feat to make virtual saloons seem sexy at the best of times, while the additional challenge of gambling addiction skyrocketing during lockdown means this is a particularly tricky proposal to navigate. Luckily for the brand, Kaufman and co. have risen to the challenge.

From intimate shots of tense casino scenes to sweaty, visceral insights into a boxing match, the idea of throwing oneself wholly into the action is delivered with verve and flashes of humour throughout. Credit to DP Albert Salas for making it all look so damn classy, too.
