Life Lessons

by Syd Briscoe

Patta: “Ladri di Patta” - 6 mins 13s

This touching film from Dutch streetwear brand Patta explores the strength of a father and son's bond. After the boy's birthday present - a pair of expensive trainers, naturally - is stolen by local bullies, his dad proves he's willing to go as far as he needs to get his kid's pride and joy back.

It's a layered piece of work that sensitively deals with many intersecting issues at once: from bragging culture to caring masculinity and the ability to know when you're beaten. What shines through it all is the father-son relationship, which is far more valuable than any coveted footwear could be.
