Wandering Worldwide

by Syd Briscoe

P & O Ferries: “Ferry Tales” - 3 mins 20s

The meditative film for P & O Ferries invites the viewer to contemplate the nature of long-distance cycling. A cyclist muses on his storied career of crossing the world on two wheels, taking the crossing from Hull to Rotterdam on the advertised service as he makes the long trip home to Germany.

Director Charlie Crane's visuals have a pastoral quality throughout, with the countryside lovingly captured as hills are battled, bumpy roads traversed, and camps pitched deep in the woods for an overnight stop. Such imagery may well inspire wanderlust in those who have yet to embrace the freedom of post-lockdown life.
