Rae of hope.

by Andrew MacGregor

National Basketball Association: “It's a Whole New Game” - 60s

Insecure’s Issa Rae ‘stars’ alongside NBA big guns in this 60” hype film, as professional basketball prepares to return after nearly five months in lockdown. Thanks to some canny post-production jiggery pokery, Rae revisits some of the league’s finest blocks, slam dunks, and three-pointers from a time before 'The Last Dance' on Netflix.

Rae’s effusive commentary keeps things light-hearted but relevant, while agency Cartwright and director Ringan Ledwidge mercifully resist the urge to smother the message with gravitas. The result is a well-executed piece of trickery for a brand that thrives on spectacle… although the risks are equally hard to ignore ahead of July 30th.
