Sweats appeal.

by Andrew MacGregor

Mountain Dew: “Sweaty Boy” - 30s

Those still haunted by Mountain Dew’s 2016 Super Bowl ad may find this 30” outing more palatable, if a little moist. The titular Sweaty Boy is in fact a bloke with a trucker moustache and a serious perspiration issue—two things no human should have to deal with simultaneously. Fortunately, the brand have just the carbonated siren song for the occasion.

Director Andreas Nilsson makes the most of his thirty-second runtime, deploying a smattering of effects work and ensuring the power ballad jingle doesn't outstay its welcome too much. The way the singing bottle is, er, silenced is also well-handled, as it reminds consumers exactly why they reach for the fridge in the first place.
