Me in 20 Years

by Andrew MacGregor

Moses Sumney: “Me in 20 Years” - 4 mins 14s

One of the most common job interview questions is: “Where do you see yourself in five years?” Try it on singer-songwriter Moses Sumney and you’ll get ‘Me In 20 Years’ - an emotionally wrought ballad set in “endless January” and haunted by the prospect of “milk turning to rot too soon”. Certainly beats the usual guff about professional growth, etc.

Director Allie Avital delivers an equally dark promo, with an older Sumney shambling around his apartment like a Samuel Beckett character. Coupled with the track's ethereal vocals and imposing soundscape, Avital's film is a richly atmospheric spin on fate and isolation… just the kind of, erm, escapism we need right now.
