Mitsubishi: “Live Outlandish” - 60s

There are ten different vignettes in this Australian Mitsubishi ad, and each seems to upstage the last in a bid to demonstrate how people are using the advertised car to live their best life. Though DAVID would cheerily vote for a life-long moratorium on songs by crooners in adverts, we have to reluctantly concede that Sammy Davis Jnr's 'I've Gotta Be Me' is a good choice for this film.

None of the scenarios is astounding, but the aggregate effect is nonetheless arresting, and it's a triumph of directing and editing that it doesn't feel hurried (especially when you consider that the ten scenes have an average screen time of just six seconds).
