Who Needs France

by Syd Briscoe

Miller High Life: “Champagne of Beers Region” - 60s

Miller High Life has long described itself as "the champagne of beers", and they now want to make that official. The brand are asking aficionados to sign a petition calling for their Milwaukee, Wisconsin home to receive the same legal protections as Champagne, France - ensuring the slogan can only be applied to drinks produced in their brewery.

It's a silly gimmick for sure, but this ad from Director Raul B Fernandez and co. handles it with a deft sense of humour. An earnest spokesman and lovely supporting performances from brewery workers ensure the jokes land with a knowing wink, while some extremely-specific model making adds an extra layer of fun.
