My Prayer

by Syd Briscoe

Mansur Brown: “My Prayer” - 6 mins 40s

Impressive VFX work enhances this atmospheric promo for Mansur Brown's latest track 'My Prayer'. Brown leads a cast of characters through their exploration of a nocturnal urban setting, as the group are compelled by a mysterious light which seems to contain a nebula of stars.

Far more than merely urb-ex with a twist, director Filmawi's piece traces a connecting line through the natural world in its myriad forms. From glimpses of a crated lunar surface to creeping moss and trees manifesting inside man-made homes, it suggests that everything is connected by a unifying life force.

Is the unidentified glowing light a physical manifestation of this energy which lends us life? Perhaps, but that's not the point. The point is to make the viewer ruminate on what it means to be alive and connected to a wider universe, as Brown's mesmerising melodies draw them deeper into a meditative state.
