Loyle Carner: “Yesterday” - 3 mins 03s

This autobiographical promo for Loyle Carnerís 'Yesterday' invites repeat viewings thanks to its one-shot flow and evocative production design. Set entirely in the rapper's childhood bedroom, the promo (co-directed by Ryan and Ben Coyle-Larner) deftly uses gig posters, news flashes, and changing technology to mark the passage of time.

Incidental details like an Alkaholiks vinyl and a Jay-Z poster from 2002 complement Carnerís cross-generational lyrics, which also allude to race and police brutality ("My grandfather getting knuckled by the pepper spray/More fire brings the riot like a renegade"). Another polished yet grounded effort by the Lambeth-born star.
