Lego: “Rebuild the Holidays” - 1 min 52s

To describe 2020 as a strange year feels awfully reductive at this point, but we've all needed some imagination to persevere until Christmas. Lego encourage kids to develop their mental muscles further with this quirky commercial, which puts the power of invention at the heart of holiday play.

Tykes and parents alike contribute to a scrappy version of Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World', as families all over the globe build scenes with far more panache than anything printed on a packet. Hot dog trees, Technicolour horses, astronaut marriages - the possibilities are ostensibly when a little blue-sky thinking is applied.

With only the truly optimistic among us expecting anything like a normal Christmas this year, it's a smart move for the brand to emphasise the brain-building nature of their indoor toy. Building and re-building may happily occupy many a cooped-up kid this holiday season... if grandma doesn't bring the tone down with some choice language, that is.
