The lost and the damned.

by Andrew MacGregor

Kia: “One of Us” - 84s

This darkly funny Kia ad features a cast of lost souls who never found their way back to their cars. The aging cult - which includes a hippie, a roller-skating veteran, and a dedicated mummy’s boy - reckon they’ve found a new member… only for the Korean marque’s new Find My Car widget to rob them of fresh, clueless blood.

Some of the costume designs are well-worn to say the least, but incidental details like a dog’s skeleton still attached to its lead add off-kilter charm. It's a diverting way to draw attention to the advertised Sorento's user-friendly approach, though a tighter edit - say 60" - might have been even more satisfying.
