Joel Corry: “Head & Heart (feat. MNEK)” - 2 mins 48s
If 2020 has taught us nothing else, it's that our attitude and personal positivity can make all the difference in how a day plays out. This entertaining promo for Joel Corry and MNEK's 'Head & Heart' takes that concept and runs with it, contrasting two versions of a bloke's day in which he wakes up on the wrong - or right - side of the bed. Director Elliot Simpson approaches his use of split-screen with gleeful abandon, as the put-upon lead character has two very different experiences due to tiny changes. He misses or catches the bus, work numbers are either up or down, a cute coworker notices him or doesn't give him the time of day. It's the butterfly effect, but in candy-coloured clarity. The final reconciliation of the guy's two halves elevates the material, bringing us to an understanding that many of the differences which decide a good or bad day are about attitude rather than circumstance. This is sleek work which vibes nicely with the accompanying track's summery sound - one which will doubtless make it a club hit... whenever clubs return.
