Patriot games.

by Andrew MacGregor

International Watch Company: “A Boy From San Mateo” - 3 mins 45s

The International Watch Company (or IWC Schaffhausen) present this sweeping profile of gridiron legend and alleged ball-fiddler Tom Brady, with the six-time Super Bowl winner's life story in the hands of director Rune Milton.

The Dane's main focus is Brady's early years, from his childhood in San Mateo, California to his days studying at the University of Michigan - first warming the Wolverines' bench then enduring the 2000 N.F.L. draft. One-hundred-and-ninety-eight picks later, he's chosen by the New England Patriots.

Unsuprisingly, there's no mention of Deflategate in Milton's reverent biopic. Everything that does make the cut is beautifully filmed and narratively engaging, belying the ad's near-four-minute runtime. No need for, erm, clock-watching here.

Cinematographer: Paul Meyers
