Your friendly desert Spider-Man.

by Andrew MacGregor

Hyundai Ioniq: “Only Way Home” - 75s

On a recent and long overdue visit to the cinema, DAVID overdosed on fan service and nostalgia thanks to 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'. Now that he's recovered, it's time to assess a Hyundai tie-in starring Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon).

Unwilling to let his spider-baby fall into the wrong hands, Jon Watts (the director of all three MCU web-slinger films so far) also helms this 45" spin-off, wherein a fugitive Parker hitches a ride in Ned's Ioniq 5. There aren’t many buildings to swing from in the desert, after all.

Despite the low stakes, Watts ensures Holland and Batalon's chemistry transitions to the small screen. Ned continues to take his super BFF responsibilities seriously, leading to a couple of sweet attempts to distract Peter from the long drive ahead.

Speaking of which, fans will appreciate a nod to 177A Bleecker Street, New York—Doctor Strange's home address. It's a minor detail, but one that elevates this over other, lazier movie tie-ins.
