Good Vibes Only

by Syd Briscoe

Heycar: “Good Feeling” - 60s

Some ads would be absolutely scuppered by a mishandled central performance, and this outing for Heycar is one such example. Thankfully, director James Rouse is more than up to the task of ensuring that a bloke giving his best in-car performance of Flo Rida's 'Good Feeling' comes across as more cheerful than cheesy.

The guy certainly gives his singing more wellie than his driving, maintaining a safe speed and polite manner in contrast to how hard he's rocking out. The knowing looks to camera and expressive hand gestures are also well observed, because who hasn't created their own mental music video at one time or another?

Of course, adland is no stranger to car karaoke (see Volkswagen, the AA, Spotify, et al.). Perhaps Heycar thought wed forgotten all about the phenomenon after months of travel restrictions and bicycle rides.
