Throw Me A Line

by Andrew MacGregor

HAEVN: “Throw Me A Line” - 6 mins 19s

The wonderfully-named Bram F J van Alphen directs this emotional promo for Dutch group HAEVN. As a woman becomes increasingly tempted by a fellow musician, her family life suffers in turn. Before long, home becomes constricting and fleeting displays of affection are replaced by despairing arguments.

This near-insurmountable gap is contrasted with the intimacy and spontaneity of a recording studio, which only intensifies this mature love triangle. It can be hard to empathise with characters in these situations, but grounded performances, elegant photography, and HAEVN's soaring track make this a rewarding affair.

Director: Bram F J van Alphen
