Empty Love (ft. Ruel)

by Andrew MacGregor

Gracey: “Empty Love (ft. Ruel)” - 3 mins 29s

Typical, eh? You successfully recover from vocal nodules only for a pandemic to effectively shut down the UK live music scene. That’s the situation Gracey finds herself in, but - like many of her contemporaries - the Brighton-born singer has found a way to keep both herself and fans entertained during lockdown.

The result is a homemade promo for ‘Empty Love’, with Gracey and guest vocalist Ruel using their bedrooms and any available smart devices. Their restless camerawork suits the current age of cabin fever, while splashy visual effects amplify the song’s ‘always online’ concerns (“Dark night, bright screen, you've been everywhere/It's frightening to think you are unaware”).
