The Movie of The Beast

by Syd Briscoe

Film Trailers: “Studio 666” - 2 mins 23s

This thoroughly silly trailer for the Foo Fighters' upcoming feature film offers a breath of fresh air. It harks back to a time of passion projects and quirky cinematic outings, as it's very clearly the result of people with plenty of money throwing their support at something which personally amuses them.

Dave Grohl and co. head to a haunted house to record their tenth studio album. Demonic shenanigans begin almost immediately, and there are some entertaining kills promised (a BBQ grill and cymbal, in particular, seem like amusing prospects) which should satisfy slasher enthusiasts.

Are we expecting anything cinematically groundbreaking after this trailer? No. But something fun, schlocky, and fan-pleasing? Absolutely. And in a world where CG-heavy superhero tent-pole dramas and simpering historical Oscar-bait films dominate, isn't that the best we can hope for?
