Unica's Cloud

by Andrew MacGregor

DeLaurentis: “Unica's Cloud” - 2 mins 32s

If there’s a drone shortage (not beyond the realm of possibility right now), then French electronic artist DeLaurentis has escaped unscathed. This promo for 'Unica's Cloud' features dozens of the blighters, with a manga-fied protagonist as their operator. Of course, as recent events have shown, technology has a knack for disruption.

A collision with one rogue aircraft sends the woman into a transhuman Sunken Place, where her body glitches and her scream echoes in infinite space. It's a brief but effective loss of control, and adds an emotional layer to what could have been a superficial tech demo. Meanwhile, warm synthwave vibes keep the audience onside and online.
