Keeping the wheels turning.

DHL: “Keep Up with the Clicks” - 60s

DAVID would have liked to have been a fly on the sound-proofed wall when Tom Hollander was asked to read the voiceover script of this otherwise excellent film for DHL. It has a definite Dr Seuss vibe in its repetition and simple rhymes, but Hollander – doubtless buoyed by the kind of fee that would make a space billionaire blush – gamely does his best under the circumstances.

Thankfully, the ever reliable Martin Krejci takes care of business elsewhere, delivering a visual treat as he depicts the evolution of e-commerce over the last two-and-a-half decades. The one thing that hasn't changed over that time is the need for physical deliveries and this is where the advertised service plays its part. It has had to keep pace with demands of customers increasingly expectant that their orders will tumble through their door in less time than it takes to open the confirmation email.

Much of the dynamism is provided by relatively simple tricks such as zooming, and quick cuts which show people around the world similarly positioned on their laptops. But it's effective, and presents DHL as a company quietly supporting the modern e-commerce in expectation of very little gratitude.
