Everyday Escapism

by Syd Briscoe

Coors Light: “What a Beautiful Day” - 60s

While we can foresee the brand running into hot water about appearing to encourage day-drinking, Coors Light's latest ad might be the most wholesome alcohol-related film we've come across lately.

A man working from home imagines himself frolicking through the neighbourhood, can of beer in hand and singing as he refuses to let 2020 get him down. Rather than the expected drunken caterwauls, his rendition of 'Oh What a Beautiful Morning' brings some class to his shirt/tie/sweatpants combo.

The addition of a flock of CG and puppet animals celebrating the beauty of nature with him heightens the comic effect, as does the final reveal about where he's really stuck spending his time. The optimum Zoom meeting uniform is well observed, too.
