Going for gold.

by Syd Briscoe

Channel 4: “Paralympics Live” - 51s

A fittingly dynamic intro to Channel 4's Paralympic coverage assures viewers that they're in for an exciting watch. Athletes flood Tokyo (Covid-19 be damned) in a riot of colour throughout the 50" film, with graphic shapes following them through the streets on their way to sporting glory.

Featuring a turn from Public Enemy to perform their track 'Harder Than You Think' - now inextricably linked with the Paralympics in the minds of the British public - it's a celebratory way to start the coverage. The Paralympics is about more than just sport, after all.

So while dressage horses dance on skyscrapers and runners sporting blades zip through the streets, this film reminds us that the events here are about community as much as competition. Stay tuned to see how Team GB shake out in the medal standings this time around.
