Conceal, do feel.

by Syd Briscoe

Cadbury: “Hide Them With Love” - 1 min 45s

This touching turn for Cadbury explores Easter egg hunts through the generations. The film's emotional crux is a sweet relationship between a father and his young daughter, whose enthusiasm for the magic of searching for chocolate around the house wanes steadily as she grows up. Yet her growing family leads her to realise just how much he's been missing out on.

The story spools out in charming fashion here, as director Dean Blumberg allows the father's expressive central performance to drive the narrative. Lovely moments from the daughter (including a particularly intense eye-roll as a moody teenager) also make the film's coda all the more satisfying. Charming work that boasts the right mix of nostalgia and optimism.
