Bumble: “Fall in Love with Dating” - 60s

Dating is a complicated prospect in 2022, what with Covid restrictions and the associated risk of physical contact, but Bumble reckon they can entice singles back onto the playing field. This personable commercial certainly makes the case well, as a woman picks her way through the complex landscape of making the first move.

It's significant that the main character is casually shown to be bisexual, both in terms of positive LGBT representation and in alerting viewers that the advertised app is for everyone. Whoever you're interested in dating, it suggests, there's an option on Bumble to suit your preferences.

Well-observed details from director Sheila Johansson add charm to the proposition here, with eye contact, smiles, and tentative touches hinting at the first blooms of romance. While many will feel awkward about getting back into the dating scene after years of isolation, this film promises there's an app to ease the way forward.
