MIA

by Andrew MacGregor

Berwyn: “MIA” - 3 mins 38s

Berwyn's two mixtapes, 'DEMOTAPE/VEGA' and 'TAPE 2/FOMALHAUT', impressed with their candid observations about immigration, homelessness, and mental health problems. With new single 'MIA', the Trinidad-born, London-based singer commemorates those whose lives were cut short by violence.

As Berwyn traces the vicious cycles that trap friends and family ("I don't wanna see my cousin in that prison again/And I know he's only trappin' 'cause he's tryna make it happen"), directors Waxxwork deliver a sombre, urgent promo that takes a disturbing trip into the woods. A strong statement from the enigmatic duo.
