Different takeaways.

by Syd Briscoe

Barclaycard: “Takeaway” - 20s

A takeaway owner gets the celebrity client of his dreams in this well-judged ad for Barclaycard. Restaurateur Wasel Ali expresses his pride in treating his guests to the 'Paradise experience' before what seems like a straightforward interview to camera morphs into a slow-motion sequence complete with spangly sitar soundtrack.

Helena Bonham Carter is a prolific figure in the commercial world, and she brings the requisite touch of down-to-earth star power here. The amusing difference in the pair's recollection of the event (Wasil's assessment that is was the "best day of his professional life" vs Bonham Carter's "...I got a takeaway") is a neat touch, ending things on a high note and supplanting the brand's odd 'Sidekicks' work.
