LaLaLa It's The Good Life

by Syd Briscoe

Audiobooks: “LaLaLa It's The Good Life” - 2 mins 23s

When Madonna sang "we are living in a material world" back in 1984, we're fairly sure this promo for Audiobooks wasn't what she had in mind. The cloth-based film for David Wrench and Evangeline Ling's 'LaLaLa It's the Good Life' takes an impressive DIY approach, rendering the artists as pictures printed on always-wriggling material.

Directors Rottingdean Bazaar and Annie Collinge capture the surreal chaos with real affection here, taking their 2D subjects out into nature, through the urban jungle, and even sucking them off the floor with a vacuum cleaner. It's a fitting accompaniment to the track, which blends a tropical beat with late-night party chatter.
