Pocketing the billings.

Asda: “Jump into Autumn” - 40s

Every agency gets a chance at Asda eventually and while the chalice may be poisoned, it's stuffed with enough gold to make it a worthwhile possession until the supermarket becomes discontent and moves on. Earlier this year, Havas celebrated their opportunity to take the reins and judging by their opening gambit their main promise to Asda when pitching for the account was to maintain solidarity with the previous work.

It doesn't look as though a single feather was ruffled in the making of this commercial, and that may well be the best way of satisfying a brand that has consistently demonstrated a very good understanding of its customers. Asda's advertising always reveals a determination to ensure that nothing overshadows the notion of 'value', even if it means they look cheap in less desirable ways.

While we always hope that a change of agency will usher a brief burst of creative energy, if the last year-and-a-half has taught us nothing else, it's taught us that we don't always get what we hope for.
