Vincent Rene-Lortie heads to HENRY.

by Syd Briscoe

Canadian director Vincent Rene-Lortie has signed to HENRY for representation.

The Montreal-based talent is known primarily for his dance and movement focused music promos, in which he seeks to tell human stories which are literally written on the body. By emphasising his subjects' unique physicality, he brings a tangible and universal quality to even the most esoteric of narratives.

For instance, critically acclaimed short film 'Sit Still' follows a child as she dances around an abandoned school. It's a prime example of Rene-Lortie's ability to coax strong performances from his cast, using a forensic eye for detail to draw audiences into his poetic visual worlds.

I had wonderful discussions with [Henry] about our shared love of filmmaking and the creative process.

Having had his work screened at festivals all over the world and with a slew of high-profile awards to his name, Rene-Lortie relishes the prospect of a new challenge in the commercial sector.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to now be a part of HENRY's family. The quality of their work is beyond compare," he explains. "They represent incredibly innovative artists, whom I am honoured to be amongst on their roster. I had wonderful discussions with them about our shared love of filmmaking and the creative process. We have great ambitions, and Iím very much looking forward to beginning my commercial journey with such a talent-forward production company."
