Papaya Films score a hat-trick.

by Syd Briscoe

Papaya have added Andrea Marini, Jack Bowden, and Mariana Cobra to their ever-expanding roster of directors.

The trio bring a wealth of experience and distinctive directing styles to their new home, from complex documentary work to poetic ruminations on the nature of humanity and polished fashion films. Let's take a deeper dive on what each new addition brings to the table...

1. Andrea Marini

Milan-based Andrea Marini comes from a documentary background, and uses his experience in capturing the realities of life to elevate incidental details in his commercial work.

His elegant and technical style translates well across genres, bringing a distinctive visual flair to feature documentaries, food-focused films, and branded content of all stripes. Pristine execution and polished technique are the name of the game in Marini's world.

2. Jack Bowden

Jack Bowden cut his teeth with fashion films, developing an instantly recognisable, heavily stylised aesthetic.

His passion for technical innovation means this style is constantly evolving with the times, always at the cutting edge of what filmmaking hardware and software has to offer. With campaigns for major global brands and a slew of surreal, compelling music promos under his belt, he provides a versatile string to Papaya's bow.

3. Mariana Cobra

Rounding out the pack is Mariana Cobra, a multi-talented artist who creates films, photographs, and written works from her home in São Paulo, Brazil.

A well-travelled, Emmy-nomiated director, Cobra constantly pushes at the bounds of the unexpected and irrepressibly questions societal norms. This energy drives her magical realist style, which she harnesses for commercials, music promos, and narrative work.
