Round eight for Papaya Young Directors.

by Andrew MacGregor

We take our good news stories where we can get them right now, and word of Papaya's eighth Young Directors competition certainly fits the bill.

The contest gives European filmmakers aged 20-35 the chance to impress big-name brands and meet industry movers and shakers, presumably at a safe social distance. There's also a Ä25,000 prize pool to divvy up.

Entrants can pick from three categories: Branded Stories, Music Stories, and Vertical/Women's Stories. Submissions must arrive between 15th February 2021 and 14th March 2021, when a crack team of creative directors, copywriters, cinematographers, and directors will decide who gets to film their idea.

Organisers will also provide a list of equipment rental firms and post-production studios to help with the shoot, along with experienced crew members ready to lend a hand. As the competitionís slogan says, "itís all about talents".

We must wait until June to see what this year's crop deliver. In the meantime, check out the Papaya Young Directors homepage for more information.
