Net gains for Papaya Films.

by Andrew MacGregor

Poland and Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is the latest footballer to receive his own feature-length documentary.

Amazon Prime and compatriots Papaya Films are behind the project, with Maciej Kowalczuk directing. The film is due for release in 2022, which gives Kowalczuk plenty of time to sift through a glut of career highlights.

Since his debut in 2005, Lewandowski has won league titles, domestic cups, a Champions League, and a bevy of individual honours. Yet the Pole is more focused on the audience: "The documentary will present many aspects of my career which football fans find interesting, but I hope those who don't regularly follow football will also appreciate all these little details."

I am very pleased that Robert Lewandowski trusted in our vision and experience.

Kacper Sawicki, Papaya Films president.

Keen to do Poland's record appearance holder and all-time top goalscorer justice is producer Kacper Sawicki, who says: "Many filmmakers around the world probably dream of telling the story of our best striker.

"For several years we have consistently been developing original film content, which is why I am very pleased that Robert Lewandowski trusted in our vision and experience. Thanks to Amazon Prime's commitment to this project, we will be able to reach viewers all over the world with his history".
