Martin Scali meets Henry.

by Andrew MacGregor

Paris-based production company Henry have completed the signing of director Martin Scali.

Born in Paris and raised in Barcelona, Scali already has four Wes Anderson movies (two as second-unit director) under his belt, along with a string of well-received commercials, music videos, and short films.

His most recent outing 'Canyon' played at the 2020 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, and underlines why France's National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image have backed Scali's upcoming feature debut.

In the meantime, Henry new boy Scali is determined to grow both his commercial and promo reels, tackling projects that demand expressive visuals and canny storytelling.

Both are evident in this piece for Israeli-French singer-songwriter Yael Naim. Co-directed with Paul Van Haver and Luc Junior Tam, Scali's tenderly realised promo depicts an elderly superhero as she hangs up her cape once and for all and embraces retirement.
