Grand Theft Auto VI: Have a Vice day.

by Andrew MacGregor

Over ten years(!) after the release of 'Grand Theft Auto V', the trailer for 'Grand Theft Auto VI' has dropped with gusto. Soundtracked by 'Love is a Long Road' by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the ninety-second clip welcomes players back to Vice City—Rockstar Games' take on Miami, Florida, and unrecognisable from its PlayStation 2 days.

Gone are the references to 'Miami Vice', 'Scarface', and 'Carlito's Way', replaced by TikTok-style footage of Leonida state. You want flamingos, alligators, lowlifes, and high rollers? You got 'em, and in remarkable detail to boot. Rockstar may have botched 'Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition', but this looks like the real deal.

It's also the first GTA game to feature a female protagonist, with shades of 'Bonnie & Clyde' and 'Queen & Slim' to her relationship with a male accomplice. Of course, 'Love Is a Long Road' may also refer to the 2025 release date.
