Fresh Film sign Kanyessa McMahon.

by Andrew MacGregor

Fresh Film have completed the signing of director Kanyessa McMahon for representation in the UK and Asia.

New York-based McMahon cut her teeth making content for MTV before establishing her own production company, Suddenly There, at the age of twenty-five. This blend of creative and business know-how naturally makes her popular with clients.

McMahon has shot numerous commercials for Adidas over the years, including a glimpse at London’s urban polo scene. Punchy and progressive, it demonstrates McMahon's interest in female-led narratives.

This recently led to a Ford Escape commercial that focuses as much on the women behind the work as it does on the car. McMahon’s camera roves around the set as her multi ethnic cast, crew, and collaborators get to work, imbuing the ad with personality and refreshing modernity.

With Fresh Film behind her, McMahon now has more opportunities to show what she can do in the branded content realm, and it'll certainly be interesting to see what happens next. In the meantime, check out this intimate profile of singer-songwriter Queen Naija for another sample of her empowering subject matter.
